Critical slope

The term 'Critical slope' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' The maximum angle with the horizontal at which a sloped bank of soil or rock of given height will stand unsupported. That slope which will sustain a given discharge at uniform critical depth in a given channel'.
